“The Land of Poets at the Dawn of Independence: the History of a Generation in Poems and Songs”

May 16 2025 Published by under

A unique event from the largest poetry festival Land of Poets is a journey back to the 90s and 2000s, when Ukrainian independence was born and a new culture was born.
On the stage are those who created this era in poetry and music. Their lyrics became the voice of a generation, and their songs became part of our identity.

Poems that have long lived in quotations. Songs that are guessed from the first notes. Archival footage from festivals.
And stories about those times from charismatic presenters.

“Own. Symphonic Music by Borys Liatoshynsky”

Svoie (one’s own) is something that is deeply rooted in the heart, which does not require translation or justification. It is the space of truth, the place where a person remains himself. Borys Lyatoshynsky’s music speaks to the heart – sincerely, passionately, uncompromisingly. It speaks of what is worth preserving, of what is yours, which nothing can break. The concert will feature the ballad “Grażyna” based on the poem by Adam Mickiewicz – a tragic and majestic story of victory won at the cost of life – and the Second Symphony – a confession of the soul written in the terrible 1930s, a testament to the power of being yourself against all odds.
