Georgiy Kovalenko

Russian art and theater expert, artist, Doctor of Arts. Leading Fellow of the Arts Sector in Central European Countries, Fellow at the Russian Academy of Arts, jury member at the Prague Quadrennial. Kovalenko’s interests include the art of avant-garde, fine arts in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the 20th century. He was awarded the Ivan Kotliarevskiy State Award of Ukraine in 1998 and the Golden Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Kovalenko has authored numerous works on the art of avant-garde, including a two-volume monograph and articles on Oleksandr Ekster. He has also edited The Art of Avant-Garde in the 1910-1920s, a series of collections, and authored an introduction to The New Generation and Artistic Modernism in Ukraine (Rodovid publishing house, 2018).
