Olena Turyanska was born and works in Lviv.
She studied at the Lviv State College of Applied and Decorative Arts and at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, in the Faculty of Interior and Design.
Olena Turyanska is one of the leading figures in Ukrainian art of the generation that emerged on the art scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The artist works with paper, creating filigree carvings, art objects and spatial installations that straddle the boundary between graphic art and sculpture. Her works are characterised by minimalism and a profound philosophy, exploring themes of memory, time, and the fragility of human existence.
