Olena Stiazhkina (b. 1968) is a writer and historian (Ph.D. in History, Professor). She was born in Donetsk. She worked at Donetsk National University. Due to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the occupation of part of the Donetsk region in 2014, she moved to Kyiv. She currently works at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (senior research fellow in the Department of Ukrainian History of the Second Half of the 20th Century).
Member of Ukrainian PEN.
Co-founder of the civic movement “De-occupation. Return. Education.”
