Marek Vadas (1971)

Slovak writer who combines African folk storytelling with darker existential stories that draw on the European cultural tradition. The main themes of his recent works include the issue of unacknowledged guilt, collective and individual memory, and indifference to injustices. His latest book is set in a city on the border of a war zone.
He is a winner of the most prestigious Slovak literary award Anasoft litera and his books have been translated into sixteen languages.
Marek Vadas is the editor-in-chief of the literary magazine „Knižná revue“, which publishes essays and articles from Ukraine every month.
