Kateryna Gornostai
Ukrainian director and screenwriter.
Kateryna graduated as a biologist and later a journalist at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. In 2012–2013, she studied documentary filmmaking at Marina Razbezhkina’s School of Documentary Films and Theater. She returned home to Kyiv during the Revolution of Dignity to film the events. Later, she started exploring feature and hybrid forms. STOP-ZEMLIA, director’s feature-length debut, premiered in the Generation 14+ Berlinale International Film Festival competition in 2021 and received a “Crystal Bear” award from the Youth Jury. And in 2025, her feature-length documentary TIMESTAMP competed for the Golden Bear in the main competition of the Berlin International Film Festival.
She lives and works in Kyiv, and teaches film directing and editing.
