Serie Barford

She was born in Aotearoa-New Zealand and lives in West Auckland. Barford is of European and Polynesian descent. She works as a school teacher in a multicultural secondary school in Auckland. Serie’s work is published in multiple journals and anthologies. Some of Serie’s short stories have been adapted for radio and her poems appear in public spaces in Aotearoa-New Zealand and the USA as part of the Phantom Billstickers Poetry Posters project.

Her published poetry collections are Plea to the Spanish Lady (Hard Echo Press, 1985), Glass Canisters (Hard Echo Press, 1989), Tapa Talk (Huia, 2007), and Entangled Islands (Anahera Press 2015).
