Peter Michalík

Peter Michalík is a radio journalist, publisher and programme director of BRaK – Bratislava Book Festival. He studied philosophy and literature at the Comenius University in Bratislava, continuing with graduate studies on cities and urban memory, with study visits to universities in Krakow, Prague, Vienna and Lviv. Since September 2017 he has been working at the Information Centre for Literature, the Slovak state agency for promoting Slovak literature abroad, where he deals with translations and international projects and cooperation. In 2018 he established a publishing imprint Monokel, focused on visual and illustrated books from around the world.

Bratislava Book Festival was established in 2013 by a group of friends, who shared the passion for literature and book illustration. First ment as a platform for independent book publishers, BRaK has become the biggest and most significant international literary event in Slovakia. Peter Michalík, the festival’s co-founder and program director, will present BRaK’s story both as a festival platform and publishing imprint of the same name.
