Jyrki Vainonen

Jyrki Vainonen is one of the leading writers in contemporary Scandinavia, critics call him “Finnish Kafka”. He is the author of novels, essays and radio pieces, translator of Swift, Yeats and Shakespeare. However, his short stories received the greatest recognition. His first collection of novels — The Explorer & Other Stories (1999) — has received the prestigious national award of the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper. Among his works, there are four novels and three collections of short stories. From 2015 to 2018, Vainonen was the chairman of the Union of Writers of Finland. He teaches creative writing at the University of Tampere.

Books in Ukrainian: In 2016, the Komora Publishing House released his book 13 Novels translated by Yuriy Zub. This year, the second book by Jyrki Vainonen The Numb God is published in the same publishing house, translated by Yuriy Zub.
