The Old Lion Publishing House

The Old Lion Publishing House—books for the whole family. Among the books of the Old Lion Publishing House there are the best world classics and the most interesting works of present day, such as works by Ernest Hemingway, Kazuo Ishiguro, Elizabeth Gilbert, Dan Ariely, Terry Pratchett, Milan Kundera, Henry Marsh, Tove Jansson, Megan MacDonald and others. As well as editions by Ukrainian authors and illustrators, including Sofiia Andrukhovych, Illarion Pavliuk, Yevheniia Kuznietsova, Halyna Vdovychenko, Andrii Bondar, the art studio Agrafka (Romana Romanyshyn and Andrii Lesiv), Yurii Izdryk, Serhii Osoka, Svitlana Roiz and others. These publications found love and affection at home, in Ukraine, and conquered many borders—books created by the publishing house were translated in several dozen countries.

In 2023, the Old Lion Publishing House won BOP-2023—Bologna Prize and became the best children’s publishing house in Europe. The same year, the Old Lion Publishing House was recognized in the nomination The Trendsetter of the Publishing Market of the Chytomo award.

The publishing house creates not only books but also book environments and spaces for reading. In the network of the Old Lion there are currently 11 Bookstores-Cafes in Lviv, Kyiv, Odesa and Dnipro. Its books can be purchased in Ukraine and abroad, as the publishing house offers delivery abroad. In addition, more than 300 books of the Old Lion are available in electronic format.

The publishing house is a participant in a number of book exhibitions: in Bologna, Frankfurt, London, Prague, Seoul, Vienna, Shanghai, Rome, Taipei, Sharjah, etc. And books by the publishing house have won various international awards many times, such as Bologna Ragazzi Award, Angelus, Nami Concours, Le Prix Tatoulu, Little Hakka International Picture Book Award, European Design Awards, and were also included in the prestigious White Ravens catalog from the International Youth Library.
