Miroslav Tomek was born in 1984 in Prague. He studied History and Ukrainian Studies at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague. He translates mostly from Ukrainian and Belarusian. His translations include Valerian Pidmohylny’s novel The City (2019) and Zhadan’s novels The Orphanage (2023) and Depeche Mode (2023). As a reviewer and columnist, he mainly follows Ukrainian literary and, more broadly, cultural developments. He currently works at Czech Radio as a research specialist.
