Croatian writer and journalist, author of over ten books translated into many languages. She writes about communism and postcommunism, the problems of feminism, social and political conflicts in Eastern Europe. Slavenka Drakulić is regularly published in the New York Times, the New Republic, and the Guardian. In 2004, she received the award from the Leipzig Book Fair For European Understanding.
