Joseph Tabbi

Joseph Tabbi (1960) is a Professor of English and project leader in Critical Digital Humanities at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He has written two groundbreaking studies of postmodern literature and culture: Postmodern Sublime: Technology and American Writing from Mailer to Cyberpunk (Cornell University Press, 1996) and Cognitive Fictions (University Of Minnesota Press, 2002). Не is an author, most recently, of Nobody Grew but the Business: On the Life and Work of William Gaddis (Northwestern University Press, 2015) and the editor of The Bloomsbury Handbook of Electronic Literature (Bloomsbury Academic, 2017), the first of three forthcoming volumes, and the author of foreword to Traversals: the use of preservation for early electronic writing (The MIT Press, 2017). He edits the influential online journal Electronic Book Review (http://electronicbookreview.com), and has edited Reading Matters: Narrative in the New Media Ecology (Cornell University Press, 1997) and introduced and edited William Gaddis’s last fiction and collected non-fiction and the collection of essays on him: Paper Empire: William Gaddis and the World System (University of Alabama Press, 2007).
