Collection of award-winning publications of The Best Book Design 2023 Contest
In 2023, the Best Book Design Contest was held for the eighth time by the International Book Arsenal Festival in cooperation with Goethe-Institut Ukraine.
The international jury selected the winner of the Grand Prix and the winners and finalists in five nominations:
- Text Book
- Art Book
- Utility Book
- Visual Storytelling
- Experiment
The jury also awarded five Special Awards.
The collection of the contest book winners and finalists represents Ukraine in the international Best Book Design from all over the World competition organized by the German Buchkunst Foundation and on other national and international platforms.
The Best Book Design 2023 contest was held with the financial support of the German State Ministry for Culture and the Media.
The project partners are the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Buchkunst Foundation.
Collection of Ukrainian visual publications Talking Pictures — 2024
The International Book Arsenal Festival and BolognaBookPlus, the brand extension of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, present a collection of Ukrainian visual books within the Talking Pictures initiative, devoted to the visual book and contemporary publishing for the adult audience.
The aim of the Talking Pictures initiative is to celebrate excellence in international book production for the adult market, highlighting editorial innovation in the use of images and of the book-as-object, as well as exploring international practices in the work with visual imagery in contemporary publishing. The focus county of the Talking Pictures 2024 initiative is Ukraine.
The Talking Pictures — 2024 collection compiles 54 visual editions for the adult audience created by Ukrainian illustrators, designers, photographers, and others and published by Ukrainian publishers during 2021-2024.
The collection was exhibited at this year’s Bologna Children’s Book Fair, held April 8-11, where an international jury also awarded the winning editions of the initiative.
The Talking Pictures — 2024 project was held under the initiative of BolognaBookPlus and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in cooperation with the International Book Arsenal Festival.
Collection Showcasing over 100 Award Winning German Photobooks
The German Photobook Prize is a competition in which a jury selects the best photo books in the German-speaking world in a few categories. It was founded more than 25 years ago and was organized by the German Publishers and Booksellers Association in Stuttgart until 2016. From 2017 to 2022, the Stuttgart Media University (HDM) organized the award. In October 2022 the organization was handed over to the International Festival of Photography in Regensburg (Internationales Festival Fotografischer Bilder in Regensburg) . Now the Photobook Prize is awarded annually in Regensburg. An extensive exhibition tour through Europe and Asia rounds off the competition.

Books from France — 2024: books for children and teenagers, comics and graphic novels
For nearly 150 years, the BIEF — Bureau international de l’édition française (French International Book Office) — presents the works of French publishers on an international stage. An association founded under the law of 1901, showcases French publishing at international book fairs around the world.
This collection presents more than 40 publishing houses with the focus on books for kids and teens, and 25 publishing houses focused on comics and graphic novels, each through a selection of works affording an overview of their recent releases and editorial line.
