Ukraine: Symbols of Resistance. Maria Kinovych

12.06.23

The exhibition project represents the selected illustrations by Maria Kinovych from the book Ukraine: 50 Symbols of Resistance. This book was created by the Platfor.ma team for the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. The main images, events, personalities, and even memes of this war were embodied as symbols, to which separate chapters are devoted. The visual inspiration for the illustrations was the reinterpretation of Ukrainian graphics of the 20th century, namely, the works of Heorhiy Narbut and Vasyl Krychevskyi.

The book was published in Ukrainian and English, and all money from sales will go to charity.

Part of the project “Ukraine: 50 Symbols of Resistance” will be presented at this year’s Book Arsenal. Read more about the project here.
