The eye of the storm is a point of calm in the middle of the powerful whirlwind that destroys everything in its path.
In the midst of the full-scale war, a children’s book became the eye of the storm. It accompanies us into bomb shelters, giving us a feeling of protection and support. It accompanies us during evacuation, serving as a warm reminder of the home we will one day return to.
“The Eye of the Storm” is a joint exhibition of Israeli and Ukrainian illustrators of children’s books.
Some of the Israeli participants are originally from Ukraine, graduates of Ukrainian art schools. Remarkably, another point of intersection with their Ukrainian colleagues is the shared experience of life and work during the war.
In times of turmoil, it becomes clear that everything matters — shared reading with parents, the first pages read, anticipation of the next part of the book. It is through these moments that we find a point of calm and strength to move forward.
Organized with the support of the Embassy of Israel in Ukraine.
