A-BA-BA-HA-LA-MA-HA is a leading Ukrainian publishing house of children’s literature, one of the most famous children’s publishing houses in Eastern Europe. The first private children’s publishing house of independent Ukraine.
The first A-BA-BA-HA-LA-MA-HA book, Ukrainian Alphabet, was published in July 1992. (The first page of the first book began with Angel). Translated from the children’s language, A-BA-BA-HA-LA-MA-HA means an alphabet (that is how the character of Ivan Franko’s story Hryts’ School Science called it).
More than half of A-BA-BA-HA-LA-MA-HA editions won prestigious book competitions. The publishing house was founded by the famous Ukrainian poet Ivan Malkovych.
Leading Ukrainian artists of different generations have rallied around the publishing house. High artistic, aesthetic and polygraphic quality distinguish A-BA-BA-HA-LA-MA-HA editions. Famous Ukrainian illustrators Vladyslav Yerko, Kost Lavro and a living classic of Ukrainian children’s literature, Vsevolod Nestaiko, have been cooperating with the publishing house for a long time.
A-BA-BA-HA-LA-MA-HA is one of the few publishing houses in Eastern Europe, the rights to whose books have been purchased by leading publishing houses from almost 20 countries of the world—from England (Templar Publishing) and the USA (Alfred A. Knopf)—to South Korea.
