INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL LAND OF POETS, THE BOOK APPLICATION LITCOM
Poetry echoes with the voice of its poet, its inner rhythm is reflected in his or her voice, and each pause for a breath does not require unnecessary punctuation. Despite all the jeopardy and challenges of the 20th and 21st centuries, Ukrainian culture has relentlessly and persistently shown its resilience. The voices of poets and poetesses have sprouted and sewn our memory—on the pages of manuscripts published or hidden in the drawers, in the poems learnt by heart by cellmates or smuggled overseas as self-published books, or now, during days in the trenches, sent as private correspondence via messengers or in accidentally captured digital prints of poetry readings amidst air alarms. That is why it is so important that, despite repressive practices, restrictions and the current war, these voices are archived.
“Voices” is a mobile audio installation where you can listen to recordings of poems performed by twenty Ukrainian poets using QR codes: voices of the classics of Ukrainian literature from the archives of Radio Kultura —Vasyl Stus, Volodymyr Sosiura, Ivan Drach, Iryna Zhylenko, Vasyl Symonenko, Mykola Vinhranovskyi, Pavlo Tychyna, Mykola Bazhan, Maksym Rylskyi, Dmytro Pavlychko; as well as those whose voices were cut off by Russian military aggression—Maksym Kryvtsov, Oleksandr Hoshylyk, Maksym Yemets, Illia Chernilevskyi, Ihor Mysiak, Yurii Ruf, Hlib Babich, Serhii Skald, Viktoriia Amelina and Nadiia Ahafonova.
