Petro Yatsenko was born in 1978 in Lviv. He is an author of eleven books. Among them are fiction, non-fiction, and books for teenagers. He is a PEN Ukraine member.
His novel The Union of Soviet Things (2020) won a BBC Children`s Book of the Year 2021 prize. The Magnetism novel (2020) was shortlisted for the Angelus Central European Literature Award in 2021. The novel Don’t Listen. Don’t Speak. Don’t Look (Ukrainian – Nechui. Nemov. Nebach) won the UNESCO City of Literature award in 2018.
